Using Share to Transfer Large Files

Using the agency’s Share server, you can transfer documents and files that are too large to send via email.

Part A: Getting started

 

1.    Open a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox) and enter “http://share.thecdmgroup.com” in the address bar.

2.    Enter the username and password provided by the IT Department.

        Your personal login information will not work on this screen.

If you are prompted to remember the password, click on “Never for this site.”

If you are asked to change your password, please do so.(Upon first login)

 

3.    Select “Try to install the Java Wizard”

 

4.    If an applet dialog box appears requesting access to your computer, click on “Allow.”

5.    After a successful login, the upload/download screen will be displayed.

Part B: Uploading files to the server

If Java is enabled in your web browser, you will see a “Click here to Launch the Java Upload Wizard” button in the Upload section of the screen.

1.    Click on “Click here to Launch the Java Upload Wizard.”

2.    Drag and drop files or folders into the Upload Wizard so that they appear in the listing.

If you drag a folder into the window, the “Directory Upload Options” dialog will appear. Click on “This directory and all subdirector…” option, then click on “OK.”

3.    Click on the “Next->” button.

 

4.    Select “Upload files individually” or “Upload all files as one .zip,” depending on your preference.

5.    Click on the “Next->” button.

 

6.    When the “Transfer complete” dialog appears, click on “OK.”

The uploaded files will appear in the listing on screen.

 

 

Part C: Downloading files to your computer

 

1.    Click on the file you want to download. The “File Download” dialog will appear.

2.    Click on “Save.”

 

3.    Select the location (usually the Desktop) where the file should be saved, then click on “Save”.

4.    When the “Transfer complete” dialog appears, click on “Close.”

 

 

Part D: Deleting files from the server

 

1.    Click on the “Delete” or “Delete Folder” link for the file or folder you wish to delete.

2.    Click on “YES” to confirm the deletion.

 

 

Part E: Logging off

 

1.    Click on the “Sign Off” link in the upper right corner of the window.
